A Republican LGBT rights bill, Pete Buttigieg, Uber, well-done steak, and oops I got in a car crash
Hey everyone,
I hope you're all having a great week. I've been crazy busy, with the mid-year summit for my Koch-Poynter journalism fellowship bringing me to Florida for most of last week. Got back Saturday morning: It was a relief to finally spend the weekend at home for once! On Monday we had our first winter league soccer game... lost 1-0, but it was a really good game. We are playing outdoors this winter... yes, you read that right. Why? I don't know, self-flagellation, perhaps. Plus, outdoor soccer is more fun than indoor, anyway.
Last night was the company-wide Washington Examiner Christmas party, a.k.a. "WEXmas." It was fun and I brought the boyfriend, so he got to meet lots of my work friends and colleagues. We're considering planning a spring trip together to an all-inclusive resort somewhere warm, so let me know if you have any recommendations or have been anywhere you enjoyed.
Work has been so cool lately. I've gotten to write some great columns and opinion pieces as always, but in the last week or so I've also had the chance to interview two congressmen: Rep. Will Hurd of Texas, the last black Republican in the House, and Rep. Christ Stewart of Utah, the Republican who just introduced an LGBT rights bill (discussed in my articles). Very cool to be doing "real journalisming."
Oh, and this is a somewhat new-and-improved version of the newsletter. Let me know what you think! I may also start partnering with sponsors soon and adding a few advertisements in. Might as well monetize and exploit you all who loyally read this letter <3
New bill strikes the perfect balance between gay rights and religious liberty
LGBT rights and religious liberty CAN co-exist. In one of my favorite columns I've ever written, I make the case for a new bill just introduced in Congress. Read more.
(Oh and, no big deal, but the sponsoring congressman shared it :D)
Partisan hypocrites: Left-wing 'LGBTQ rights' groups bash GOP anti-discrimination bill
Liberals group like the ACLU and the Human Rights Campaign have attacked the new compromise bill when they should be applauding it. Read more.
LGBT media attacks Pete Buttigieg for working with 'homophobic' Salvation Army
Uh... the charity is NOT homophobic. The presidential candidate's left-wing critics are losing their minds. Read more.
Don't freak out over report of '3,000 sexual assaults.' Uber is incredibly safe
The headlines sound scary, with 1,000s of assaults reported to Uber. But the bigger picture tells a different story. Read more.

Fun things:
Food Take of the Week:
We stan well-done steak only. Anything else is hate speech.
Bonus Brad:
So... you know that stereotype about how gays can't drive? Yeah, that definitely applies to me. I hit a BMW in a CVS parking lot. FML. We were the only two cars in the lot.
My car came away banged up (see below). And RIP my insurance rates after paying for that BMW's repairs...
... oops.
