AOC, 'LGBT leather kink weekend,' Virginia, skim milk, & my cooking goes hilariously wrong
Hey everyone,
I hope you're all having a good one.
I had an amazing weekend. The boyfriend and I took advantage of Restaraunt Week in D.C. to go to a fancy Mexican restaurant that would normally be out of our budget, and it was to die for. I also finally have gotten him into Game of Thrones for the first time, so I'm re-watching the series with him. I'm STILL Team Cersei till I die.
We also had a mini "couples cookoff" with one of my favorite co-workers and her boyfriend. My contribution was that I, uh... did the dishes, sorta? The boyfriend took over the kitchen and made a wonderful fancy potatoe dish and a delicious chocolate cake (from scratch!). Suffice it to say I was not much help, but I did my best! It was great.
In political news, as most of you probably know, impeachment mania is consuming the Capitol this week as President Trump's trial begins in the Senate. My take on it is pretty simple: We all know the outcome, and the entire thing is going to be tribal and hyperpartisan. The ins and outs are almost unimportant as a result, and I can't wait for the whole thing to conclude. Sadly, though, the whole drama over Trump/Ukraine/Impeachment isn't going anywhere -- you can expect both sides to dredge this up constantly for years to come.
Barf.
BONUS: Read till the end to see how hilariously my cooking went wrong Tuesday night.
Meme of the Week:
Food take: Skim milk is good. Really good. All other milk is trash.
What I've been writing about lately:
Yes, AOC, we can 'capitalism our way out of poverty'
The socialist congresswoman just slammed moderate Democrats for foolishly believing capitalism can reduce poverty. But they're actually completely correct. Read more.
DC's degenerate 'leather weekend' annihilates gay progress
I'm getting a LOT of hate for this one, but I stand by the take 100%. Extreme displays of hypersexuality tied to the LGBT community harm all of us and confirm the worst stereotypes. Read more.
The arrest of Glenn Greenwald reminds us what actual press persecution looks like
Some liberal journalists in the U.S. are too quick to cry wolf about threats to press freedom when they face even mild criticism. But the Brazilian government's crackdown on a dissident journalist shows the threat to a free press is still real. Read more.
No violence at Virginia pro-gun rally as fearmongering falls flat
Critics in the liberal media and Democratic politicians like Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam painted Monday's pro-Second Amendment rally as a potentially dangerous gathering of radicals and extremists. It was actually a peaceful, respectable affair. Read more.
Bonus Brad: I've been trying really, really hard to eat at home and stop spending so much money on food. That has involved several attempts at cooking. Last night I tried grilled cheese... and still managed to burn it.
