Boyfriend update, post-fellowship life, riots in DC, and the ranch v blue cheese debate, settled
Welcome to my first Weekly Brad in my post-fellowship life.
Hey everybody!
Welcome to my first Weekly Brad in my post-fellowship life.
It’s quite telling that it’s actually several hours late! Rather than have a ton of time on my hands, I have actually been writing almost every day and have secured a bunch of freelance work. I also have a rather big professional announcement coming soon that I’m super excited about… but can’t quite share yet. Be sure to read next week’s newsletter ;D (or keep an eye on my Twitter feed.)
It’s a bit crazy being in Arlington, Va, just outside D.C., at the moment. In the city there are mass peaceful protests, but also riots, looting, and vandalism. Too, there’s been disturbing instances of police brutality handling the protesters and journalists have been hounded, robbed, and assaulted by mobs.
It’s a scary time. Think about what you can do and what policies we should pass to reform the broken, racially discriminatory criminal justice system in this country. But don’t post cringey social media posts to virtue-signaling, don’t engage in any of the destruction behavior happening in cities around the country, and most importantly, stay safe.
Boyfriend Update: It was surreal/amazing — the boyfriend and I went to AN ACTUAL restaurant this week. The sports bar near our apartments is now doing socially distanced outdoor service with tables set up their huge parking lot. It was weird… but the buffalo wings were good!
Meme: I am in total support of criminal justice reform and the murder of George Floyd is a great injustice. But some of the virtue-signaling from woke white people and corporations is getting extremely cringe-worthy.
Food Take: Blue cheese > ranch. Facts don’t care about your feelings.
(And this one is going to make my boyfriend extra mad)
