Hey everyone,
I am now able to advertise in my newsletter and MONETIZE your loyal fandom. So please be generous with your clicks and keep up the killer open rates we've been getting (sometimes as high as 50%, almost unheard of in email marketing).
Big announcement: I will also be trying like heck to expand my newsletter following. And I'm coming out as bi. Bi-weekly, that is. You'll now get the (Bi)Weekly Brad in your inbox TWICE a week... double the amazing content for you, free of charge. The newsletter will now go out on Wednesday AND Saturday, hence why you're getting this tonight :D
Boyfriend update: We celebrated our first Valentine's Day together, and it was wonderful. It didn't exactly go as planned... I accidentally f**ked up the reservations (long story), so we ended up having Chinese food and watching Game of Thrones. We did a fancy dinner Thursday night instead. I got him dark chocolate Herseys and a heart-shaped box of Reese's (his two favorite kinds of chocolate.)
Oh, and just about the coolest thing in my journalism career to date happened recently -- I got to interview a sitting senator one-on-one. You can read the interview piece here.
I am beyond blessed. In just over 9 months as a professional journalist, I've had the chance to interview Rep. Chip Roy, Rep. Chris Stewart, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Rep. Will Hurd, and now, (drum roll please) Sen. Rand Paul!! It's one you don't want to miss.
Now, for the sad part: As some of you already know, my grandmother passed this week. Luckily, I was able to fly back home to Rhode Island and be with her when her doctors took her off of life support. We will honor her life this week, and in keeping with that goal, I took to a (since-semi-viral) Twitter thread to talk about the difference she made in my life.

Food take: Milk chocolate is mediocre. Dark chocolate is superior in every way, also white chocolate is good, actually.

Don't blame gay rights for Utah Republicans' push to decriminalize polygamy
The GOP-controlled Utah state Senate just passed an (eminently reasonable) bill making polygamy punishable by a fine, rather than 5 years imprisonment. Some social conservatives freaked out, and rather unfortunately decided to... blame gay rights. Yes, really. Read more.
Rise of Mike Bloomberg reveals Democrats' hypocrisy
Democrats hate it when sexist, politically inexperienced, crude billionaires with a long history of racially inflammatory comments try to barge their way into national politics. Just kidding, they actually only hate those things in Trump. Read more.
Victory for the Second Amendment: 'Assault weapons' ban dies in Virginia Senate
Four moderate Democrats helped kill a proposed 'assault weapons' ban on Monday. This is good news -- there is essentially zero compelling evidence supporting the claims they can reduce gun violence. Read more.
Exclusive: Rand Paul talks 'mixed bag' Trump foreign policy, mulls 2024 presidential bid
Your humble correspondent had the chance to interview Sen. Rand Paul, the libertarian-leaning Kentucky Republican, to talk about the War in Afghanistan, Trump's foreign policy, the 2020 Democrats, and whether he plans to run for president again in 2024. Give it a read.
Book Club: I just finished the "Proxy" series by Alex London. It was recommended to me by a friend, a really cool young adult dystopian light fiction read with a gay protagonist. It takes place in this futuristic hyper-advanced world where people have essentially fallen into high-tech indentured servitude. I give it a solid 4/5 rating, it's a good read. You just have to ignore the fact that it is not-too-subtle anti-capitalist propaganda and enjoy the story for the fun of it!
YouTube: PLEASE give my brand-new YouTube channel a look! And please do subscribe. I'll post 2-3 videos a week, including TV clips but also original content & videos based on follower requests.
